You may not think lighting one single candle on September 11th will make a difference.  You are wrong.  The ritual of candle lighting makes a big impact in the worlds of those we have lost and those who have lost.  They see our candles glowing and they know what's attached to each flame.  They know the lights of their spirits have not been extinguished and in turn, we are reminded that we are all connectedWe are all one;  each spirit ignited by the same eternal flame.  It makes a difference to every day people;  my neighbors, your neighbors, those who may be driving down the road and happen to see your candles.  They will know why you have them lit and their hearts will be touched and there will be a ripple effect.  Hopefully, in turn, they will go home to place their candles out as well.

I remember last year after having lit my candle and placing it on the ledge of my 3rd story balcony...I took a drive around the city to see if anyone else had done the same.  I wasn't expecting much.  They had done it!  I saw candles in store windows, on street corners, on front porches...I even saw one on the roof of a firehouse.  The site made an enormous impact on me, as it did anyone who happened by to see it.  It felt like the world, at that point, had fallen silent and these candles lit, simply represented the love we each carry inside; the love and pride we have, not only for our country, but for one another as country men and women.  What a heartwarming experience it was to see a candle burning on the balcony of one of my least favorite people in the world.  It made a big difference in the way I viewed her from that point on.  She and I have a commonality.  We love our country and its people, we respect our freedom and we pray for peace.  What else is there? And what need is there for animosity past this knowledge of one another?  None.

This September 11th, let each candle lit be a symbol of faith, hope & love.  The word, "Namaste" means, "The God in me loves and respects the God in you".  If you so choose, let this be the symbol your candle represents.  It's all up to you.  Some people may want to gather family together for a short prayer vigil, others like me will go outside, stand in the dusk alone and light a candle to speak private prayers;  no matter, we will all stand together with God and the angels and ask, "Please Lord.  Lead us where You will have us go.  We offer prayers of peace and prayers of thanksgiving and prayers for those who have become heroes since 9-11-01.  We will never forget and we thank You for this."  We need to remember what we felt like last year when we watched the news reports of the prayers being said for us around the world.  We are NOT alone.  We have never been alone. We will never BE alone.  And for this, again, we thank You...Especially here at Trinity Angels, where there are no strangers...only friends and loved ones.

Help us wake up Lord.  We want to love.  ALL of us do.  It's what you put us here for.

Amen

"Alexis" , your angel on Trinity
